Hairspray

It's the 1960s in Baltimore , Maryland and Tracy just woke up with a cute song. Tracy is just an average student with a talent for singing, dancing and acting. Hairspray entertained me with its acting , dancing, and singing.

This musical styled movie entertained me with its hilarious actors and actresses and their singing and dancing. The dancing and the singing combined with the historical civil rights movements adds conflict , but it still does not have a strong story. I do enjoy the love story between Tracy and Link and the hilarious scene where Tracy's mother exit the house for the first time and she starts to enjoy the dancing. This Bollywood style movie with dancing and singing in the story is boring for the majority of the movie. There was not much conflict, comedy, or exciting action scenes.

However this movie did enlighten me on the power of music and how it can change people's lives by working and playing in a desegregated area. It also showed me how music can bring different racial groups together.

The Diary of a wimpy Kid

"Middle school is the dumbest thing ever invented" says Greg Haffley.Young Greg Haffley is entering Middle school and he's the only one that hasn't really changed. Everybody else changed their physical looks and matured into teenagers while Greg is still the same kid from last year. The Diary of a Wimpy Kid is a movie about life in Middle school and how it can influence your life forever. This movie was funny, creative and very true.

Middle School is when kids are not kids, but their not adults yet, so things become awkward and strange. This movie is unique because rarely would we see a movie about middle school and this movie really captured the experience of being in Junior high. Junior High school is when we are treated more like adults, but they still care for us like children.
When I was in Middle school, we were given lockers and we would were on our own about fifty percent of the time and the other fifty was with a teacher or lunch aide. The experience of middle school really helped me to be successful in High School and this movie captured that moment.

The funniest part of the movie was the cheese on the blacktop.Whenever somebody touched the cheese, the other kids would avoid that person. They are growing up to be like adults, but they still act like kids. Adults would say,"Who cares if he touched the cheese? He can always wash his hands and the germs would be washed down the drain". However kids are scared of things that they don't understand and they deviate from those things.

The Diary of a Wimpy is another movie about a kid in school, but it is better than Mean Girls. It holds the element of surprise that anything can happen in Middle school because a person's appearance change and personality change can be conflicts. Greg and Rowley are best friends , but Greg is afraid that Rowley is too childish. Greg moves apart from Rowley and they stopping talking to each other for a while, but eventually they made up and hugged. Their relationship as best friends is the conflict and resolution of the film.
The film is about how Greg and Rowley overcomes Middle school and eventually be successful in High
school.

The Last Song

The Last Song written by a father to a daughter is always very touching. This movie is built around the relationships of father and daughter, friends and friends, and Ronny and Wil. This movie may not have be the best movie, but it is a movie that that has a great story, great actors, and a steady plot line.

The Last Song's story revolves around Ronny and her relationship with her father because she has gone through a turbulent teenage time period. Ronny is a teenager that kept her emotions about her father to herself at first, but she soon realizes that her father needs her love. Her father got stuck in a blaze at the old church because he was working on a new song for Ronny. The beautiful song that he wrote was beautifully played by Ronny( Miley Cyrus)and it reflects their relationship together as a family.

The acting in The Last Song is not bad and is actually pretty good. Most of the Actors expand upon the emotions of the characters that they play. They played a role that convinced us that the actor and the character is one and the same. Miley Cyrus touched our hearts with the song that she sang and the life that she played as Ronny.

The plot line is typical of a drama story, but it was very interesting to see Ronny and Wil helping her little brother. I enjoyed this movie and it definitely made my day when I watched it on the plane.

This movie incorporates a great story that is written by Nick Sparks and it showed us more to life in Florida.

Into the Wild ( Revised)

Most movies that depict people going to live off the land are very vague and unrealistic, but Into the Wild is different. The creators of Into the Wild took Jon Krakauer's story and followed Chris' footsteps to show us the life that he lived and the people that he met. Into the Wild has a wonderful story, fantastic acting, and terrific visual effects to communicate with us the risk that Chris took on his journey and the importance of biology and language arts.
Into the Wild's story is about Chris McCandless' crazy journey after college graduation because he took a risk by burning his social security card, his credit cards, his cash, and his left over identifications. Chris McCandless took the risk of travelling throughout the country because he loved the outdoors and he always wanted to be free and independent. His risky actions were successful until the very end because he was killed by a poison from a pea plant. Normal people would not take this risk because they know it is dangerous and they are afraid. Through Krakauer's story, we learn that Chris McCandless' risk made an impact on the people that he met. Some of the people like Jan Burris and Ron Franz loved him because of his ecstatic personality and his open mindedness to nature and to other people. His death in the end was both tragic and poignant because many people like Ron Franz wanted him to live life. Ron Franz wants Chris to be his grandson because he wanted his family to continue on and he wants some one that he can both relate and talk to. The people's hearts that he touched and the lives that he affected was a part of Chris McCandless' personality, but the actor also acted his part well.
The actors in this film were truly the real life characters that they play because they really touched our hearts by their relationship with Chris McCandless. Emile Hirsch plays Chris, and he has the smile that no body will forget. His smile and face is all so friendly and familiar because he is Chris and everything he does is so spontaneous. Being a person that has read the book by Jon Krakauer, I can feel Chris' presence in Emile because his voice, his language, his actions, and his relationship with others are the same as Carine described him in the book. Jena Malone is Carine McCandless and she created a very close relationship with Chris. Jena has become Carine because with her voice in the voice over’s we can sense Carine's presence, and it is like Jena and Carine are one person. Hal Holbrook is the next best actor in this movie because his last conversion with Chris as Ron Franz did not like acting instead it looked like a serious conversion that the two were having together. The conversion also created a suspenseful moment that made us all pause and think. Shawn Penn really knows how to pick actors and crew members because this movie has great visual effects.
The visual effects of this movie were intriguing because they went to Alaska and every place that Chris travelled to in his journey. The visual effects were great because it was realistic. Most people have never lived out in the wilderness for hundred plus days and this movie gave us a great perspective on the experience. The experience was harsh, deadly, and filled with choices. McCandless could not hunt big animals with small children because he had a soft heart for families. He wanted to leave his annoying family, but in his heart he still loved them. We can see evidence of that when he tries to shoot a bear. The gushing blood from the moose gave us a feeling of never eating meat again because it is taking another life. It is similar to a homicide, but hunters are killing animals. Sean Penn used these visual effects to communicate that McCandless killed it to survive and not for prizes. Sean Penn also used the film to teach us important lessons about life and living out in the wilderness.
The moral from this movie is that living off the land is both dangerous and unpredictable. The weather could be rainy or snowy for several days in Alaska, so any hikers living off the land would be starving if they did not bring enough food. Director Penn wants us to be prepared when living out in the woods. This movie also teaches students like me to read carefully and learn taxonomy well. Reading carefully is not only for the SATs, but it is for survival. Chris McCandless learned the lesson after he ate the poison. Taxonomy is the science of categorization and it helps categorize organisms. It uses the most specific two groups to categorize the organism. They are the Genus and the species. McCandless learned how to read the Latin names, but he forgot to learn about each native Alaskan plant.
Sean Penn has used the story that Jon Krakauer’s wrote to teach us about Chris McCandless and his tremendous bravery for living off the land and for changing the lives of others. This story has inspired many people to follow their dreams and never give up. We are all human beings, and if Chris can do it, then we can do it too.

Inception

The mind is like a puzzle that can be solved. There are only a handful of people called extractors that can unlock the puzzle. These extractors design dreams and plans to insert into other people's subconscious and they can also take information away. The most skilled extractor Mr. Cobb (Leonardo DiCaprio). He has been banned to see his children because of the will left by his wife and he has terrifying memories of his wife. The more we get into the film, the more we start to understand Mr. Cobb's life with his family. Inception is a film about cracking the code of the minds of people and understanding the complexity of dreams. Inception has used good visual effects, well done acting, and nice locations to portray the story as a doorway to the unlocking the mind.

The key to solving the puzzle begins with Cobb landing on the beach and brought to the Japanese house for lunch. This beginning scene seems confusing at first , but the story gets better when the clock is turned back and returned to the first time that he dreamt of the palace. The whole beach and palace turned out to be a dream and the goal was to gain the documentation that was locked in the Japanese executive's mind. However his wife is always in his head and thwarting his plans to succeed as a extractor. The whole confrontation between his wife and himself goes back to one she was still alive. Their confrontation is just as complex and disturbing as the puzzle that is being cracked because she likes him , but wants him away. She wants to live old with him, but she tried to kill him in his dream. Their whole relationship is part of the puzzle that Cobb needs to solve. His wife is like Benedict Arnold because she is always on the other side of Cobb and his assistant wants him to confront her.
The visual effects were pretty good too, but they were not exceptional because the only real visual effects that I like were the low gravity and the walking on the ceilings and walls and the the two road ways put together. The visual effects were not revolutionary, but they did help convey the message that in dreams, the possibilities are endless.

Leonardo DiCaprio is the best actor in this film because he has portrayed the part of Cobb like he is Cobb. There is no doubt that he has persuaded us that he knows what he's doing and he is the greatest extractor in the world. He has also convinced us that he is a team player and he is also a family man.

Inception is a great movie and the whole movie is like a Rubicon cube and a sudoku puzzle combined, but the movie is not finished. At the very end, Cobb returned home , but the spinner continued to spin forever. That would mean that he's still in a dream. It could also point out that the whole movie is a dream inside a dream that has not been solved one hundred percent. The movie is both creative and innovative because the director is the writer. This is the difference between good movies and the best movies because the director makes every last call and they are always right. That is due to the fact that story writers can tell the story in any way possible.
Lastly , Inception is a great movie and there is no doubt that this will top the Box Office and be the Best Motion Picture of 2010, but there are critics that hate Chris Nolan and his movies. This may cause Inception to have only three Osc
ars.

Toy Story 3

In 1995, Toy Story was released and millions of people around the world saw it. Then in 1999, Toy Story 2 was released and it got twice the amount of people. Toy Story 2 was better than Toy Story and Toy Story 3 was the best movie in the series. I did not expect Toy Story 3 to be better than Toy Story one or two, but Pixar Disney gave us a surprise. They used their creative skills to creative a brand new story that is humorous, enjoyable, and consistent. Toy Story 3 is the best movie in the summer of 2010 because it has a creative story, humorous voices, and consistent to the end.

Toy Story three is better than other animated movies this year because of its creative story. Shrek has used the same story , but different version for all four movies. Toy Story 3 is different because the story is something new and it has not been used in other movies. The whole story is depressing and sad because the toys are losing Andy to higher education. Andy has become too old and they are accidentally sent to a Day care center. They had been miserable all week in the Day Care center because the head( a hug a bear) is a Dictator that wants everybody to be the same as him. He had to be overthrown and destroyed because he is implementing a type of socialist society on the other toys. Woody escaped the day care, but came back through a three year old girl. Woody is the hero, but Buzz and Jessie are helping him lead their friends back to Andy's house. The big bear is really evil because he first accepts their help in the landfill. However , he then abandons them to die.

The humorous voices of Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Wallace Shawn ,John Ratzenberger, and many more actors have made this movie the best because they would have spontaneous jokes and puns. I have rarely seen animated movies that are like a comedy, but is also like an action-adventure movie. They can escape, but there is lots of fun and they are the quintessence of Andy's childhood.

Toy Story 3 is not choppy, but is consistent. There is the same amount of fun and excitement in the end as there is in the beginning. It would never get boring and I keep on wanting more from the creators at Pixar. They gave us more in the Credits, but I still believe they can give us even more.

The consistency, the humorous voices, and the creativity of Toy Story three makes the Toy Story series successful in finance and awards. I have no doubt that the Academy will nominate Toy Story three for Best animated feature, and it will beat How to Train your Dragon for the Oscar.

9

Imagine being one of nine rag dolls that represent the last of the human race. Imagine being in a world where robots have defeated humans and they have ruled over us. The Director of 9 and Tim Burton tells a creative story about the rag doll number 9 and how he was able to defeat the machine. Nine is a special animated movie because of its animation style and story.

9 is very dark and may not be suitable for most people. The darkness symbolizes no hope left, no more humans, and the domination of robots over humans. The movie also has very few dialogue because the director wanted us to focus on the story and the surrounding. He wants us immersed into this post apocalyptic world because he wants to prevent this from happening.

The story of 9 is revolved around the rag dolls. The nine rag dolls are bits and pieces of the scientist's soul because of is machine. His machine can take a soul out of a human being. The story is about rag doll number 9 joining the rest of the rag dolls and finish the goal of the scientist. The goal was to get rid of the machine because it has no soul and the dictator( resembles Hitler) has turned it evil before he died.

9 is a unique movie that everybody has to watch. Even though it is scary and creepy, but the movie is very unique and creative. It is human imagination mixed with stories from the bible.

Alvin and chipmunks 2

Alvin and the Chipmunks the squeals features three male chipmunk and three female chipmunk that can sing. They live in Los Angeles , California. All six of them can sing , but Hawk only wants the chipettes. Mr. Hawk hates Alvin for ruining his job. This movie has a weak story, annoying chipmunk voices, and it used a overused location.

Alvin in the Chipmunks' sequel is about the chipmunks and the chipettes going to school and the mean manager getting revenge. The best part of the movie was the school scene because the animation blended well. The majority of the movie was like the movie, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, because the animation and the people did not cooperate coherently. A real life and computer generated things should complement each other instead revolving around the animation.

The chipmunk's high pitched voices was unnatural and just plain human imagination. Their high pitched voices made watching the movie difficult because it does not look natural. Chipmunks cannot talk nor can they talk in high pitched voices.

Hollywood is a location used by many movies. Some of them are animated or real action movies. The movie Bolt takes place in Hollywood and Star Struck takes place in Hollywood. I want to see a new location instead of the same one that has been used by directors for over century now.

There is nothing special about this movie. This movie could be one of the worst movies in the 21st century.

Coraline in 2D and 3D

Traveling to a new world is not hard with movies like Avatar, Narnia, and Coraline. Coraline, released in 2009, is a trip similar to Narnia. Young Coraline just moved into the new neighborhood with her workaholic parents. She becomes extremely bored and finds a tiny secret door. Along her adventure, she meets Wybie,Bobinsky, and two actresses. The movie's story is a regular plot, but the movie is filled with suspense. The movie, Coraline, has a different animation style and it also has fine voice acting.

The movie, Coraline, has a different type of animation style. The movie is animated in a different way than Toy Story 3 and How to Train your Dragon because the animators want us to feel frightened and scared. This movie has a dark attitude, but the entrance into another world is similar to Narnia. Both Coraline and the Pevencies children want some attention and fun after a dreadful experience in their world. However Coraline does not want to go back after she escapes the other mother's intention of replacing her eyes with buttons.

Dakota Fanning as Coraline was a great choice made by the director because she is full of excitement and her voice changes to the mood and facial expression of the character.

Coraline meets the circus star, Bobinsky and learns that he likes to train mice. Bobinsky , the actresses, and her parents in the other world were only luring her and working for the evil force of the other mother. She learns that no family is more suited to her than the parents that gave birth to her.

It is a great movie that incorporates good acting and fine animation style, but it will always be second to Pixar.

Sherlock Holmes: Terrible Movie

In London, Sherlock Holmes is snooping around to uncover the mysteries of a case. I have no idea what the case is about nor do I know why they are doing it. The movie gives less information and too much violence. Sherlock Holmes was a great classic for everybody, but this movie is the direct antithesis of the original story. Sherlock Holmes the movie has a far too complex plot, difficult to understand story, and terrible acting.

The movie starts off with a man trying to kill a women and Sherlock Holmes is on the case, but why. The murder case should be for the police. Why is he killing the lady? Then the movie goes on and Sherlock Holmes is living in a small apartment on Baker Street. The room was nothing like the one described in one of his Sir Conan Doyle's stories. Sherlock Holmes' attitude and behavior is also different than described in the book.

Robert Downey Jr was not a good choice of actor because he's not British, and he did not properly act out Holmes' behavior. He does not have a British accent , so he uses an American version of a British accent. His British accent sounds unnatural and not humorous. If this was a comedy, then it might be funny, however this movie is a mystery genre. Therefore, the actors have to take their accents sound authentic. That was one the reasons why they chose British born actors for the Harry Potter movies.

The story goes off the wall. The director do not specify characters on why Holmes is with them. The director does not tell us specifically the case that Holmes has to solve.

At first , I thought that the movie would be good, but I cannot judge a book by its cover. The director of Sherlock Holmes has disappointed me.

The Blind Side: Another great movie from 2009

In a average southern town in Alabama, a homeless African American man is given the opportunity of a lifetime. He has been offered a chance to stay with a millionaire's family. Michael Ohar was given the chance because he was a classmate of one of their children and their son like him. Being raised in turbulent environment with a mother that has an unstable health condition and job. He was forced into the state's care and given to foster families, but he always returned home to his mother's house. Michael has been repeatedly called Big Mike, but he confessed that he disdains the nickname. The Blind Side shows great acting by Sandra Bullock and Quinton Aaron and it keeps me informed on every scene.

The best acting came from Sandra Bullock and Quinton Aaron because of their constant interactions and confrontations. Quinton Aaron's character is a sixteen year old African American teenager that was found by Sandra Bullock. Her character found him because Michael was from the high school and he was walking in the rain with no where to stay. The interactions between the two characters is not something anybody would do in real life. Most people would not let a homeless student stay in their home. Leigh Anne was a brave women for letting a six foot eight boy stay at her home because if that boy was intentionally insidious or evil then her house would be in danger.

Unlike Sherlock Holmes, this movie entertained me and it was readily understood. All the way til the end, I had the same questions that I had in the beginning of the Sherlock Holmes movie. This movie was different because I could easily understand the situation , problem or scene. There was no misinterpretations or questions because the actors spoke clearly and coherently. I still have a hard time listening to the British accents of the actors in Sherlock Holmes because it does not sound spontaneous.

The Blind Side has joined Avatar, Invictus, and Precious in the top ten movies of 2009.

Invictus: An inspiring movie

Invictus is an Oscar award winning movie. The movie has shown Clint Eastwood's good judge of actors. The movie starts in February 11,1990, the day Nelson Mandala was released from prison. It was also the year that he became president of the Republic of South Africa. President Mandala displayed his tremendous leadership skills during his years as president. Morgan Freeman was the best actor for President Mandala because he is the only actor in Hollywood that looks like Mandala and he displays the acting skills necessary to show us Mandala's leadership.
Morgan Freeman starts the movie with a speech that Mandala spoke to promote peace between the ANC and the other black people. When I saw his speaking style, it was like I can see Mandala speaking. His passion for helping South Africa was so strong that it made me want to cry. In apartheid South Africa, the white minority and the black majority are in constant conflict. Even in the rugby games, the blacks would cheer for every team that is competing against the white minority's team. In every way, Morgan Freeman shows me that he is Nelson Mandala. Rarely, would I see his talent and skill in other actors. His meeting with the captain of the rugby team is a good example of his leadership. He says, "The English gave us many things. Rugby being one of which, but afternoon tea was the best". It was like Mandala was speaking to us through Freeman. That would be impossible, but this is only my feeling.
Morgan Freeman's acting skills taught us the history of how Nelson Mandala brought whites and blacks together. His acting is at the center point of this movie. He showed us that sports can bring two different groups together. We all know that sports can bring peace, but not many of us knew how. Freeman showed us that a Rugby team needs to win the World Cup and that the team needs to open rugby clinics for poor South African children. He showed us that change takes time to except. It wasn't until the end that most of South Africa accepted Mandela. It is the same with Barack Obama. Obama is facing a lot of criticism , but we will eventually be grateful for his change.

Karate Kid: Advertisment for China and the Chinese bullies

The Karate Kid is a great movie to watch in the summer because it has a strong story and acting skills. The movie also gives you a tour of Beijing, China. Not only are you immersed into a Chinese environment , but the director decided to make some advertisements for China, since this year is the 2010 Expo. In the first first few scenes, we see the state owned airline company, Air China. Air China is not the only airline company in China, but he used Air China to tell people that it is not that bad. Air China has a history of long delays and cancellations.
In July 2006, I was on Air China heading towards JFK. We were about to take off ,but the pilot turned back towards the terminal. It was because the wings of the jet were broken. We were now two to three hours behind schedule. Then it took another five hours to get on another plane. The same thing happened again, but this time the radar was broken. We got off the plane and waited another four hours for the radar to be fixed. Finally, we were twelve hours behind the normal schedule. This has happened frequently before and after my experience, so it shows that Air China is unreliable and unsafe. The Karate Kid exaggerated the speed of Air China's takeoff.
Every country has bullies, but the bullies displayed in the Karate Kid was exaggerated. In China, there are very few bullies like the one seen in the movie because the Chinese students are generally hard working, peaceful, and amicable. The bullies in the movie were influenced by bad teachers.

Planet 51: A normal movie

Planet 51 is about an astronaut that landed on an alien planet full of little green people. This is not like Avatar because the director took Earth and transformed the people into green looking people. I believe that those people are just earthlings , because they are using our western technologies. Basically it is a recreation of our planet and its people into planet 51.
In the last scenes , they saw planet 51 and it looked exactly liked Earth. Chuck did not even need his space suit. This differs from other alien and human encounters like Avatar. On Pandora, the planet is more real, more hostile, and there is not oxygen. The environment of planet 51 is not the only unrealistic part. The 50s theme on the planet is something to examine closely because if they never encountered humans before, then how do they know about our culture. Planet 51 does not have its own creative theme and it lacks in a strong storyline and creative environments.
The acting was good for this type of movie , but it's not going to win any Oscars or other awards. Dwayne Johnson acts the way he normally does, there was nothing special in his voice.

The Karate Kid

The Karate Kid was released on June 11,2010. This day marks the beginning of the summer movies. This movie has fighting scenes ,but they were not at the center of the story. The center of the story was how an American teenager can get accustomed to the turbulent life in Beijing. Although the bullies' strength and lack of common sense was unrealistic because most Chinese children are both peaceful and friendly. However there are some teachers that are intentionally cruel and wants nothing , but bad things to happen to the adversary of his students. The film's interesting and dramatic parts include the scene with Dre and his girlfriend, the constant beatings, and the learning of martial arts.
This film shows Jackie Chan's best acting skills because he incorporates both fighting and teaching. He teaches young Dre that Kung Fu is an art and those teachers that teach it as a way to fight is wrong. Kung Fu is commonly misunderstood as a way of combat, but it is more of a way to bring peace through skill and everyday actions. He teaches Dre martial arts is also a way for us to get immersed into China's land and people.
Dre and Mei Ying's adventures are fun and helps the audience be immersed into everyday life in China. There adventures eventually leads to a break up by Mei Ying's father, but the two still wants to be together. It is like a Romeo and Juliet moment , except that the Mei Ying is obedient and listens to the wise words of her father.
Cheng and Dre's fights are unequal and not fair. It is a gang of eight people against one person. Cheng starts the fight because he is jealous that Dre can dance and he is from America. Dre was able to impress Mei Ying , which Cheng wants to do. Dre is weak and Cheng's bad attitude causes Dre to dislike China and beat Cheng in the championship tournament.
The film's wide variety of action and adventure beat out all the other Kung Fu Kid movies, Iron Man 2 and Shrek the fourth.

Shoprite's LPGA classic

Yesterday, I saw the ladies play golf in the Shoprite's LPGA classic. The ladies were being watched by twenty to fifty people , and they can focus on the swing. They also remain very relaxed and calm. They have been playing for a very short time and yet they have developed a very strong mental attitute for golf. Golf tests a person's physical and mental toughness because you have to remain calm and hit the ball as far as possible and it has to be accurate.
Their strong mental attitude was trained from the start of their golf career. They fall behind the the male golfers ,but they do present an oppurtunity for amatures to watch and learn. Their hits may not be as far as the males, but it is good enough for them.
They keep on trying to become the top in their tournament.

The Karate Kid: A great start to the Summer

This summer started with Iron Man 2 , but I believe it started with the Karate Kid. The Karate Kid is not only an action film, but it is a adventure story that takes people to Modern day China. Although this movie is a remake, the movie is better in respects to the story, plot line, actors, actresses and location.
The Karate Kid's movie name is a misnomer because Jackie Chan is not teaching Jaden Smith karate, but kung fu. Kung fu is Chinese, Karate is Korean, and Tae kwon doe is Japanese ,but Kung Fu is the best because kung fu is not just fighting , but it is a type of art that advocates for peace. The director chose China as a location for this movie because China is developing into a country that has Chinese and Western characteristics and China has a developing car industry. Dre's mother used to work for a car company located in Detroit , but the company transferred her to Beijing.
Beijing is the perfect location for this movie because it is the capital of China, it has Chinese history, western culture, and a place for westerners to fit in. It was also a place that has children that are very self content. Some of the children in Beijing think they are better than other children in China because they were the first to see cars and other western technologies.
Harald Zwart, the director, chose the right characters for this movie. He knew that Jaden Smith could act, dance and look good on the big screen. Jackie Chan has always been the perfect actor for a kung-fu movie ,but today this movie shows his best acting. Jackie Chan is the master that trains young Dre to fight the bullies. He also teaches Dre about the Chinese culture, history, and language. Jaden Smith shows that he has become accustomed to the Chinese life and has acclimated to Beijing. He has made a journey with his girlfriend. He first learned that there are certain levels of discipline in a Chinese family, and second he learned that she really likes him. He has made the journey with her across Beijing to get use to the streets and locations. Jaden's acting is very spontaneous and very free. He shows his dance moves and his girlfriend shows her dance moves.
I also enjoy how the set is very natural for the story. In the early karate kid movies, the scenes make the story look awkward and the location does not complement the story. The acting from the original karate kid is not humorous or fun to watch. Jaden Smith comes and acts in a way that humors the audience including myself. For example; On the airplane, Jaden tries to speak in Chinese , but the guy was from Detroit. His facial expression was humorous and at the same time it was also embarrassing.

How to Train your Dragon 3D

Dreamworks Studios have finally created a movie that is worth watching. This is one of the best movies created by Dreamworks. How to Train Your Dragon is an original story that takes place in a Viking Town that has dragons. The story is narrated by Hiccup, a teenage boy that is the son of the belligerent viking leader. He is a different type of leader than his father. He is smarter, wiser, and better with his hands. He is a dynamic character that changes from a shy teenager to a hero. This change was caused by his capture and release of an notorious and infamous dragon. Through this dragon he was able to understand more about the dragon species and their nest. How to Train your Dragon has an original story, wondersful characters, and a great theme.

Hiccup cannot hold a powerful ax or hammer, but he can handle tools to help others. He is a tinker that helped his good friend, Toothless, to fly. He built a friendship with a dragon that helped more people than most vikings. He saved an entire nest of dragons from being eaten and an entire town from getting town. His persistance to stick to his own personality is something to amire about him. It also tells us that we should all work harder an keep moving forward.

Eventually Hiccup earns more than his father's respect, but the entire village's respect. He showed that violence is not always the anwser. The theme of the movie and the story line is epic, but not as epic as Avatar.

Walt Disney Pictures Alice in Wonderland (2010)

I stepped into AMC Theatre 4 on a rainy day. The day was perfect for watching a movie because it is very dark and wet and there's nothing to do. Watching this movie in the morning got my mind working because it was funny, creative, and entertaining. There were great actors, great special effects, and awesome visual effects.

Alice and Wonderland is from a classical novel that every American should read. It is wonderful book and now a wonderful movie. This movie could be used as a teaching tool to help students understand the novel, the time period, and the general setting. The movie also showed Alice's emotions and feelings really well. It is understandable to be scared of a nightmare and a place like Wonderland. Wonderland is weird, strange, surreal, and sometimes hard to understand. It is created by a Englishman because the movie is about dethroning a monarch and saving a land. England was a monarchy , so it knows a lot more to getting rid of bad monarchs or dictators. The Red queen resembles a dictator that is power hungry. She wants the kingdom and got it by force. The classical tale and the movie has landed a place in my memory. Her relationship with her sister is a classic sibling rivalry because the youngest always get everything. The oldest sibling is always the one that is left unsatisfied and jealous. Even the battle is about the rivalry between two siblings because the younger one , the white queen, got the kingdom. So the older sibling, the queen of hearts, believe that the older one is more responsible and thus she should get the land. However, the queen of hearts has no friends or council, because she created allies using fear and power. The White Queen used that to her advantage and got Alice to slay the queen of hearts' most powerful beast. Without that beast, every body is free because she no longer has the power.

This movie also gave us a history lesson on a family of monarchs. When the older brother ascends the throne, sometimes the younger brother would use force to get rid of his blood brother. This fact is true because humans have a nature to want power and they always want more. The story also tells us that with great power comes great responsibility. The Queen of hearts had all that power , but she took no responsibility. She created hatred among her people because the people believes that she is enjoying too much time in her castle. She eventually became oblivious to what was going on in wonderland. She believes that everything is perfect and protesters should be decapitated. It shows her irresponsibility in following what her people want. This happened a lot in medieval England, ancient china, medieval France, and the Ottoman empire. This means that this story, movie, and book showed us the time period that it was written in and the historic activities going on. It also hints that the story takes place before the Opium war because it was mentioned that they wanted to find a shorter route to China. All movies have stories, some of these stories could hint at the past, the present, or the future. Avatar hinted that we might discover a new planet and ruin it all together. The Hurt Locker hinted on the past Iraq war and what happened. This story hinted on a medieval fugue with two monarchs facing each other.

Alice in Wonderland also tells us about a childish dream. It shows us that we all want to travel to a place where we can enjoy the moment without pollution, crowds, or pressure and stress. It tells us that we all want a place to think, relax, and "flush out" our thoughts to someone trustworthy. The time spent in Wonderland helped Alice understand her dilemma in the wedding ceremony. When she climbed out, Alice knew her future as clear as day. She also became happier because she understood more about herself and others around her. For example, she made the connection of the two fat boys with two girls. Those two girls were her friends and they knew what would happen that day and they would also "fight". The connection is similar to the connection that Dorothy made at the end of The Wizard of Oz. Dorothy said, " I had a dream and you were in it". It just explains that the author of the Wizard of Oz had read Louis Carroll's books.

This movie's connection with Louis Carroll's novel, Through the Looking Glass and Alice in Wonderland is very precise and very informational. The three dimensional effects were awesome, but that was not the most important part in the movie.

However I have mixed feelings about this movie. Some parts were dull, some parts were exciting, and some parts were sad. This made me think twice about the rating of this movie because it was not consistent. I feel that this movie has too much dialogue and some of the dialogue could be cut out. I also found listening to their British accents annoying. Also , the movie started out to be very confusing. They did not introduce everything clearly. Although this movie has faults, I still love Alice in Wonderland. Watch it in 3D and you will not be disappointed. It has great visual and special effects, but incomparable to Avatar. Watch the movie in theatre because they have comfy seats and screens. Also, watch the movie in the morning because movies are cheaper in the morning than the afternoon.

OSCAR Night Who won? Is there personnal bias?

The Academy Awards have been a prestigious award for eighty two years. How has the procedure for choosing a winner changed and what are they doing differently? I believe that the academy is trying to keep awards from the rightful owner and giving it to someone else. James Cameron is the best director because he wrote the screenplay for Avatar, produced Avatar, and directed Avatar. Without James Cameron, there would not be a movie because he did the crucial work. However his team did the a lot of work too, but under his supervision.

James Cameron has won dozens of awards and have millions of dollars. The Academy hates James Cameron because Cameron has everything. Cameron has the awards and the money and the fans. They want to give the award of Best Picture and Best Director to Kathryn Bigelow because the audience least expect that to happen. But I ask the Academy , If Kathryn Bigelow would spent 15 to 16 years of her life for making a movie. Avatar is still better than the Hurt Locker because the story is more original, the picture quality is better, and the technology is newer. The new technology to film 3D movies was introduced by James Cameron because he wants the audience to pick up a bow and fight along side the Na'Vi. His dream became reality and everybody in the world accepts that. Not only is the technology amazing, but the worldwide audience reaction is even greater. The Amazon natives are using the movie as an inspiration to face the developing companies. The Palestinians are using Avatar as an inspiration to fight the Israeli. James Cameron made a excellent point when he said, " It doesn't matter if I win a award or not because I broke my own box office record, I received excellent reactions from the world, and I already have dozens of awards. This is just a big celebration for me. I just want to celebrate the success of my team and my movie. " My belief is supporting James Cameron's statement to ABC cameras and E News cameras. This also supports the fact that Avatar is still a great movie and the Academy is very bias and near minded.

A computer generated movie can win best picture because change is coming to the motion picture department. We have seen too many movies like The Hurt Locker because everybody wants to capture the Iraq War details. Compare it to Avatar, The Hurt Locker falls behind because Avatar is an epic movie that has romance, environmental cause, action, adventure, and science fiction. Nonetheless, The Hurt Locker has never captured my attention because it looks more like a news channel than a movie. I never even finish the movie once because I felt it was boring and only portrayed the soldiers as heroes. I understand that these soldiers are heroes, but to some of the natives , western soldiers have been a threat. Avatar portrayed the side of the natives very well because the Na'vi saw the soldiers as terrorists and land stealing aliens. Avatar has also portrayed the western soldiers as heroes. Avatar has moved me emotionally and physically. I was deeply touched by the natives' willingness to fight for their homeland. (They want to keep their planet fresh and without pollution.) I was also touched by the way a small team and an entire native population can defeat the powerful imperialist power. (It shows that natives can go up against the people with guns. ) I will ask Kathryn Bigelow and her "Hurt Locker" team, if their movie can be as touching to the world as Avatar has.

17 Again

For most people, they wish that they can turn their whole life around, if they became 17 again. Michael O'Donnell lived an mediocre life with a separated wife and two unloving children. He is forced to live at his best friend's house and strange things occurred. This interesting movie left many people feeling sad because they felt the nostalgia with the vivid details of turning seventeen again. This is an interesting movie that captured my attention with its humor because our lives would be very different if the parents were that same age as their kids.

Michael O'Donnell noticed that as a father he knew absolutely nothing about his kids, but he learned more about them as he turned seventeen. An old man or an angel turned back the clocks and Mike went back to his seventeen year old self that had abs and good looks and cool basketball style. The transformation was unusual, awkward, and scary at first, but the funny part was when his best friend did not recognize him. Then his best friend acted as his father to enroll him into high school again. Then the romance part started to form. His best friend tried to get a date with the principal, he tried to get along with his wife, his daughter tried to get a boy to marry her, and his son tried to date the girl that he has been crushing on. The whole story revolves around romance and family connections. He ended up being his son's best friend that helped him with basketball and dates. Then the funniest part is when he danced with his wife, but he's still seventeen. Then the whole story goes DE jax vu.

The director did a great job resolving all the conflicts in Mike's life by turning him seventeen again. He got his wife back and he knows more about his children and his best friend got a second date. The whole movie is worth watching, but rent it. Don't buy it.

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs

This weekend was a historic weekend with a record snow accumulation in the mid Atlantic states. This movie has a record food accumulation of Italian foods,American fast foods, and a Las Vegas styled buffet. Cloudy with a chance of meatballs was an entertaining movie for a rented movie. In this animated movie, the actions and inventions seems very unrealistic because food falling from the sky and rat birds. You would have to merge the DNA of rats and birds and that would cost billions of dollars. However this is only a kids animated movie and so the movie is for a one time watch. This movie should be rented at a Red box for a buck because there is nothing too special. Even though there was nothing special, I was intrigued by the creativity of the creators because we need a creative spark.

In the midst of the Great Recession, People are more worried about the rising cost of food and basic needs, so many people don't even think about being creative because they want to keep their good paying jobs. watching a creative movie alleviates the stress and pressure of work, school, and thinking. I really liked how a hamburger just landed perfectly in the people's hands. The funniest person was the mayor because he got so fat and still wants to eat more. He is a good representation of the obesity level in America. People are eating too much junk food and this movie teaches children a lesson about not eating too much McDonald's, Burger King, Taco Bell, and Kentucky Fried Chicken. When I saw food falling down and piling down in a dam, I knew that the movie was also about telling America that they are wasting too much food. Americans throw away half eaten foods everyday. The scientist was a genius ,however he needs to know that success is 95% failure and 5% success. He was lucky that he met a girl that can match him wit for wit. As the adventure continues, the hero is a team of citizens.

This movie also tells about the state of nature of humans. Humans are naturally greedy and evil. This movie shows how desperate the people are after the tourists left. These people were poor and some were in complete destitute. The people became greedy that all they want is for him to let food come down. The mayor represents the selfish, mean, horrible leader, and very parsimonious aristocrats. He wanted the scientist to drop food because he wants his people to have everything , but in the midst of the crisis he took no blame at all. Even though he was the one that got the machine into overdrive and overloaded the machine. The scientist could have fixed the all problem with a switch, but the mayor had to be selfish.

The meatball part was that the machine is wrapped in a cocoon that was the size and shape of a gigantic meat ball. The adventure of going into the meatball was dangerous because there was hot, and greasy oils that were boiling. There were headless chickens walking. Even though the movie was unrealistic, I believe you should watch the movie any way because it is creative and fun for the whole family. It also teaches the lesson of never waste food.

Julie and Julia

Renting a movie at Red Box is cheap, easy and very convenient. This weekend, I rented the movie, Julie and Julia. The story goes back and forth from past to present and runs parallel from each other's story. Julie Powell's story is in relation to Julia Child's life. She mentioned, "I was a government secretary and Julia was a government secretary. She's loves to cook and I live to cook". She makes the connection that she is similar. This point in the movie is the turning point and the definition on the movie. Julia Child's story begins at the beginning because it acts a introduction for the movie. The best actress in Julie and Julia is Meryl Streep because she added the third ingredient to being a good actor. She made her personality the same as Julia Child's personality. Compare her voice with Julia Child's actual voice and you can see no difference because she is the perfect actress for a part in this documentary and non fiction movie. The movie portrayed Julia Child's life extremely well because it showed how Julia Child influenced the world. The movie tells us that if a person can influence another person, then it can influence the entire world. It showed how She influenced Julie Powell into enjoying cooking. Julie Powell was able to accomplish a goal and write a book and had fans. The movie is not a summary of Julia Child's life, instead it is about what are achievements were and how she took a stand in society and what happened in her lifetime compared with Julie Powell's life.

Julia Child told us that society at that time was very complex about race and communism and that France was famous for its food and culture. Joesph McCarthy was mentioned in the movie and how he would interrogate people in the state department. He was ruthless by locking them up in a room with no windows for three days. Julie Powell told us about how society was after the terrorist attack on 9/11 because she was handling these person to person relationships.

For most people, cooking is a tedious task that people do all day because their family needs to eat. However Julia Child influenced Julie Powell about having fun with cooking and if you fail then keep on going forward. Julia Child's cookbook showed her how fun cooking can be because she was doing it as a hobby. Julie Powell tried it as a hobby and she became less stressed out to a happier mood. She changed her entire mindset about cooking and life. Have fun in cooking and you will enjoy it more. Some people say how do you have fun while cooking? I told them that you should improvise on some recipes. Julia Child improvised and Julie Powell improvised as well. Recipes can be changed accordingly to your personal eating habits. Some people like more oil and some people like less oil. Does it matter? No it does not because improvising is a way of being creative and thus having more fun.

I believe that through Julie Powell we learned the influence of Julia Child in the world today. Now cook for fun! Enjoy your weekend with a fun filled dish!

The Spy Next Door

Recently, I watched "The Spy Next Door" at AMC theaters. Since I watched the movie in the morning at AMC, the ticket price is only $6.00. Twenty years ago, that was the price of general admission in the afternoon. The movie starred the "old" Jackie Chan, George Lopez , and Billy Ray Cyrus. Jackie Chan is the dominant role in this action packed comedy. Jackie Chan is always in action packed comedies. My favorite action packed adventure comedy is Rush Hour 1 and 2 because they were able to fluently bring together three kinds of movie genre. The Spy Next Door makes a good third best action, adventure comedy because the story has been used before, Jackie Chan is getting old, there is no new use of technology, however it made me laugh spontaneously.

Not only is watching movies in the morning cheap, but it gives me a wake up call. I love a good laugh in the morning because it makes me happy throughout the day. The Spy Next Door was able to make me laugh spontaneously because the humor is not "squeezed" into the movie. Comedy movies like the Pink Panther 2 had nose pinching laughter because they forced us to laugh. The humor was tickling humor. Tickles are usually forced and the humor in The Spy Next Door allowed us a second to think and laugh. There was no forced laughter or bad comedy acting. I enjoyed Billy Ray Cyrus' funny southern accent and southern phrases funny because people do not normally talk like that. Jackie Chan's Chinese American accent was funny because he talked normally and tried to be fluent. Playing a part in a major movie is good for his resume, however this movie will hurt him. He can sing and act and be funny in a spontaneous way. Billy Ray Cyrus is a Television show actor , so he has no experience with motion pictures. He has played as a father in the 2009 movie, Hannah Montana The Movie, however he was horrible. I think he was better in this movie, than that one. George Lopez is a television host, so he's not good at acting in this movie either. He played a double agent and a traitor to the Central Intelligence Agency. He was not funny and acted mediocrity.

I am not saying that this movie is good because the story has been used by "The Pacifier". A secret agent goes to babysit a family of kids that he wants them to like him because he likes their mom. Then villains go after him and the kids that he babysits. The villains act too friendly in this movie because the movie is aimed at kids. In my opinion, this movie deserves a C for mediocre because Jackie Chan has played a part in many movies like this. He has acted in the Rush Hour trilogy, so he deserves a better movie to be in. Rent the movie, don't buy it.

China's Uygurs — National Geographic Magazine

China's Uygurs — National Geographic Magazine
National Geographic is talking nonsense about Han majority coming into the province of Xinjinag. Xinjiang has been part of China for thousands of years. This land has always been ours and the Uigurs are part of the Chinese family. However family don't kill other family members. That is wrong on all levels. Xinjiang Uygurs are miniorities that purposely kill people and destroy public property. They sent buses and cars on fire. They killed hundreds of people. This is a terrorist attack. If they want to get a message across , then they can submit emails, phone calls or peaceful protests, but not by violence. "Darkness cannot drive out darkness, only love can do that. Hate cannot be driven out by Hate, only love can do that"(Dr. martin Luther King Jr). You cannot fight fire with fire because the end resault is a bigger fire that rages on from both sides. The Central government only ended the fire by calming the Han majority and the Uygur minority. They did not contribute the violence in any way. I will reiterate that they did not contrbute to the violence in any way. The fault was in the Uygurs.

Avatar

Around the world, people are enjoying James Cameron's latest masterpiece, Avatar. Avatar is a good movie because it has a high box office grossing. The movie has earned $1 Billion dollars worldwide and growing. It has the potential to overtake Cameron's last masterpiece, Titanic because Avatar was much more interesting. An Avatar is a remote body that is a mix of the Na'Vi DNA and human DNA. When I watched this movie at AMC theatres, I was intrigued by the natural environment , the vivid battle scenes, and the blooming romance.

Since the beginning of the 21st Century, environmentalist has warned us about global warming and taking care of our plant because it is becoming like a waste dump. It is always the human imagination to have a planet that is not polluted and it has all the environmental things that we enjoy. Avatar makes the audiences envious of Planet Pandora because it has no pollution, it has beautiful trees, mountains, skies, and animals. I loved the floating mountains because it looked so pure and beautiful that I became very envious of the characters that were in it. The floating mountains made me feel the nostalgia that I am still drawing imaginative creatures and planets. Americans go to the movies to enjoy a movie and take some time to relax. Avatar lets us feel the cool breeze of air and fresh unpolluted air. Avatar makes us feel like everybody is in heaven. In some ways, Pandora is a good representation of heaven because it has the environment that we enjoy. When I saw humans destroying the planet, I would have stood up against my own race because foreigners have no right to come and take the natives' land.

The battle scenes with the natives against the humans were extremely vivid because there was dramatic music, flashing scenes and slow motion shots. The battle scenes show that one human can change the way others view an entire race of humans. If they can teach one human to like the natives' planet, then the time to teach him or her was worth it. I really liked how Avatar had the confidence to take on the big bird. He had the courage and the assertion to do it. That scene portrayed him as a persevered and strong guy. My absolute favorite scene was when he jumped off the bird and went on to the big ship. He was killing the people with the motivation to protect their planet. He had the look on his face that said, " No body can stand in my way". The scene was extremely intense and I got extremely excited. All good movies need music that can get us excited.

As a student in filming, I know that music is an essential part in movie making because it builds a mood and it says more things than the speech dialogue. Music tells us the romantic parts and the dramatic parts. It helps us distinguish the two from each other. Music is the heart and soul of everything. Music is abstract and it helped Avatar to become more abstract than more realistic. When they were passing by the floating mountains, the music was very soft and happy because these mountains were the most beautiful things in the universe. The music was very joyful in the scene with Jake running for the first time in five years.
In general, Avatar is a fantastic movie that I would love to watch many , many times.
